Environmental Statement

Campbell Contract is committed to environmental stewardship. As a responsible member of the community, we sincerely believe we have an obligation to not only preserve our environment, but to make it better. We understand that practicing sustainability and minimizing waste today will ensure the availability of resources tomorrow. At Campbell Contract, our environmental statement is more than just a corporate policy, it is a neverending Commitment to investigate, pioneer, and implement sound environment-friendly practices in all facets of our business. Following are some of the ways we are making a difference:

  • The use of sophisticated “nesting” software and CNC wood cutting equipment minimizes wood waste while maximizing yields.
  • Only renewable species are used for all solid wood components.
  • Renewable engineered hardwood is used for all internal wood components.
  • Wood pallets are reused or returned to suppliers.
  • Our suppliers cut all foam components to precise specifications.
  • All foam scrap is recycled into other foam products.
  • Fabric is cut on an automated cutting machine, which ensures the most accurate yardage requirements and minimizes fabric waste.
  • All fabric scrap is recycled.
  • All leather scrap is recycled.
  • We seek out suppliers committed to sustainability.
  • Only HAPS free (hazardous air pollutants) lacquers are used.
  • HVLP (high volume low pressure) application of finishes reduces the amount of energy required as well as overspray.
  • Corrugated cartoning material is made from 100% recycled material.
  • All OSHA and EPA requirements are followed diligently.
  • A centralized dust collection system removes and collects wood dust from the air for proper disposal.
  • All unused finishing materials are removed by an independent company

LEED-CI

LEED for Commercial Interiors is the green benchmark for the tenant improvement market. It is the recognized system for certifying high-performance green interiors that are healthy, productive places to work; are less costly to operate and maintain; and have a reduced environmental footprint. LEED for Commercial Interiors gives the power to make sustainable choices to tenants and designers, who do not always have control over whole building operations.

The use of Campbell Contract products will allow for the following USGBC LEED-CI points to be earned.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCES

Construction waste management CMR credit 2.1, Divert 50% from Landfill

1 point

Requirements: Develop and implement waste management plan, quantifying material diversion goals. Recycle and/or salvage at least 50% of construction, demolition and packaging debris from landfill.

100% of all Campbell Contract crating components are recyclable.

MR credit 2.2, Divert 75% from Landfill

1 point

Requirements: Develop and implement waste management plan, quantifying material diversion goals. Recycle and/or salvage at least 75% of construction, demolition and packaging debris from landfill.

Campbell Contract blanket wrapped freight eliminates cardboard and packaging materials.

Resource reuse, 30% Furniture and Furnishings MR credit 3.3

1 point

Requirements: Reuse products and materials in order to reduce demand for virgin materials and reduce waste, thereby reducing impacts associated with the extraction and processing of virgin resources. Wooden products are designed for maximum durability and can be refurbished for a second life. Custom product can be designed to be integrated with existing furniture, allowing spaces to be easily equipped with a blend of existing and new products that work together.

Campbell Contract offers to recondition and re-upholster all of our product designs for perpetual use.

Recycled content MR credit 4.1, 10% (post-consumer + _ pre-consumer)

Requirements: Use material with recycled content so the sum of postconsumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content equals at least 10% of the total value of the materials.

Campbell Contract meets this requirement.

MR credit 4.2, 20% (post-consumer + _ pre-consumer)

1 point

Requirements: Use material with recycled content so the sum of postconsumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content equals at least 20% of the total value of the materials.

Campbell Contract uses many components made from recycled materials.

Regional materials MR credit 5.1, 20% manufactured regionally

1 point

Requirements: Use a minimum of 20% of the combined value of construction and furniture materials and products that are manufactured within 500 miles of the project.

For projects within 500 miles of Dallas, Texas (zip code 75247).

MR credit 5.2, 10% extracted and manufactured regionally

1 point

Requirements: In addition to the requirements of MR 5.1, use a minimum of 10% of the combined value of construction and furniture materials and products extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project.

For projects within 500 miles of Dallas, Texas (zip code 75247).

Rapidly renewable materials 5% MR credit 6

1 point

Requirements: Use minimum 5% rapidly renewable materials, defined as materials made from plants that are typically harvested within a 10- year cycle or less.

Upon request, Campbell Contract can modify product specifications to meet this requirement.

Certified Wood EA credit 7
